A trash-life is a still-life like scene I find in the streets and replicate in oil paint. The scene appears staged but isn‘t, displaying items of materialistic value and discarded waste that has fulfilled its purpose. Items are stacked or leaning against one another. A trash-life is an homage to purposefully staged 17th century still-life paintings. If vanitas is about the fleetness of life and materialism, trash is today’s equivalent.
